8/28/2023 0 Comments Diablo 2 resurrected anti cheatits hard to appreciate just how astronomically rare they are, we're talking 1 in 4.4 million odds off each kill for a jah rune, when top-end uniques might have 1 in 1000 to 1 in 10000 odds per baal kill with 200% mf in P8. ![]() Its not rocket science how to fix this problem: Remove the bots, make runes about 20-100x more common. If bots and dupes actually got removed, you'd have a problem of an economy where high end unique items are reasonably achievable with some grinding and trading and have an 'appropriate' rarity, but high runes are 100x as rare and completely out of reach for anyone but saudi princes spending thousands of dollars on the game. I don't think anyone believes bots and dupes are good for a game overall, but the D2 economy revolves around high runes which are 1) completely essential to making most builds even function at all 2) duped and botted in enormous quantities and 3) astronomically rare compared to the rarest unique / set items needed for builds And the result was they'd do waves of bans when they silently update and catch people, but then they'd spring right back with more bots and dupes. Well, it took more time for Blizzard to update it than to find workarounds. Diablo II has anti-duping hashed item affixes, sanity caps on affixes, suspicious behavior automated restrictions, temp bans and permabans, and a variety of other checks and hurdles. The hackers found ways around them, every time. And the people I knew still got thousands of hours of fun out of the game without that kind of thing.ĭo you personally want bots and dupes to be normal? Will it hamper your enjoyment of the game not to have it? If so, why?ī vanilla has many, many anti-cheat systems built into it. I wanted to be blown away by someone owning a Zodded ethereal item, instead of it feeling common. I just think personally I was always let down by seeing so much non legit high tier loot float around. I don't know what percentage of players used hacks, or ran bot farms. ![]() Is this something we can discuss without downvotes? In a thread this week the three first posts saying they preferred "no hacks" were instantly downvoted. I have seen several players talk about the game isn't playable without Enigma, or that things will cost a lot without dupes and bots. What I'm surprised to learn this week is while me and my friends thought it was normal to play without botting, using hacks, buying items with cash, or hoarding duped items, apparently to many people here this stuff is actually very important to gameplay. We had clans, PVP fights, and the fun went on for years well into LOD, 1.10, and beyond. Like many people, I got Diablo and Diablo 2 at launch and put thousands of hours into these games.
